The Hands of a God

Much prefer "Xmas" to "Christmas"

So.

I' ve written before about BOOGIE, the darling little clown featured in my story. Today I bring you more art related to the cute bastard, along with some other amusing musings.

BOOGIE, being a proper angel, has many fantastic super-powers. Godly powers, in fact, resides within his cartoonish frame. He will wield them and you will witness him going all-out, during the climax of INHELL's second chapter.

I have always found Buddhist art to be really cool. In particular, the depictions of golden gods with many, perhaps endless pairs of hands have greatly impressed me. The thrones of benevolent serpents the buddhas rest upon are also, to me, thrillingly beautiful... Unsurprisingly so, as I´m a Satanist and a big fan of reptiles since an early age.

The cover for my first book "Secret Reunion In Carfax Lodge" features LOWLE, the/my artificial werewolf and protagonist of that story, sitting comfortably in his snake-throne in a lotus pose and, all around him, in the cover and the back-cover, many ghostly hands express his mysterious will thru iconic gestures of power.

Gate Gate Paragate Parasamgate Bodhi Svaha...

Let me point your attention to one zone in particular, part of the the back cover, where a circle of kung-fu hands surrounds a central one; the withered hand of an ascetic monk that has held his arm up for years... a feat thought impossible.

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

A circle of hands seeking triumph against external foes... orbiting a hand that stands as an icon of triumph against internal resistance, a triumph against one's own body, one's own pain, one's own limits. All hands floating on the Photoshop "void". Isn't that profound? Isn't that lovely? And it'd make for a cool-ass watch design (I will sue your ass if you steal PILFER this design, dearest reader).

Recently, a man raised its hand/fist and achieved a feat thought by many to be impossible. That hand, let me tell you, made some waves. In my story it will be BOOGIE´s hands making waves, but the message will be a similar Satanic spiel; an assertion of individuality and the beauty of the ever-burning world. An assertion by/of the PRINCIPIUM INDIVIDUATIONIS.

The hand might very well be THE defining human body-part, the core of our megalomaniac project. I once heard the argument that "global warming was an unavoidable destiny ever since we developed opposable thumbs". We were always doomed to face the reality of a world grown TOO SMALL.

Recently, I have discovered with glee the sensation of detailed, total control associated with working in Zbrush. You have this tool you see, within that program, the "gizmo". It lets you move and deform and transform and edit a 3D object in many, many ways. There is such a THRILL of power that comes along with it. Any BRUTE can SMASH a thing, but to carve and polish a thing, to BUILD, to lovingly CRAFT a proper jewel... now THAT is proper, Godly POWER.

Proper.

As a kid, I remember watching DBZ and being very impressed with the scene where CELL, the "perfect organism"... builds an arena for his martial-arts tournament, using his immense, telekinetic powers.

Couldn't find a Japanese version so the Latin-American Spanish dub is featured above. It's an incredible scene. I really think it's among the greatest moments of the series (if you watched the English dub, know that they replaced the glorious, spectacular original music with absolute garbage, really sorry you were thus deprived as a kid)...

That clip expresses how I feel sculpting away the hours in Zbrush, and also reflects BOOGIE´s grand gesture in my upcoming book.

Zbrush can make one feel like a god armed with a heavenly weapon/tool. My hands feel connected to superior mecha-hands within a immaculate, perfect, virtual space where "white" is PURE WHITE and "black" is PURE BLACK.

In any case.
